10 Songs That Were Censored For Utterly Ridiculous Reasons

9. The Who - "My Generation"

The BBC refused to play this classic Who track when it was first released, but not because they were afraid Roger Daltry's call to action would incite a youth uprising. Nope. Turns out they were none too pleased with the repeated stuttering that's become as iconic as any vocal affectation in the history of rock and roll. Daltry was supposedly offending people with honest-to-goodness stutters. Except, that wasn't his intention at all. Though there are several varying stories as to how the stutter came about, all of them have one thing in common: No one meant to offend anyone. Whether it was happened because Daltry was having difficulty learning the lyrics or because Pete Townshend was a big fan of John Lee Hooker (who was a fantastic blues musician and sometime stutterer), the stammer was apparently viewed as a slight by the BBC, taking politically correctness to an odd new level.
