1. The Boomtown Rats I Don't Like Mondays
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Kobdb37Cwc Depending on what age you are, the chances of you knowing what this song is truly about are quite varied. The vast majority of younger people who have merely heard the tune on the radio will likely considered it nothing more than a catchy pop classic, but delve a little deeper and thinks get vastly more sinister. Bob Geldof claims to have written the song after hearing about the shooting spree of a teenager named Brenda Ann Spencer. Spencer shot at children in a school playground at Grover Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego, California. The shooting took place in January 1979 and claimed the lives of two adults as well as injuring eight children and a police officer. When she was finally apprehended, Spencer's response to her actions was incredibly cold and detached she merely said I don't like Mondays. This livens up the day. Spencer's chilling explanation became the Rats' famous repeated chorus.
