https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ty6gxwuENLI To those whose who don't often listen to the infamous shock rocker, Marilyn Manson's music is filled with violent and obscene lyrics, but the truth is they're much more intelligent and considered than the vast majority of non-fans think. Get Your Gunn is a prime example of this. The song was the first single released by the artist, taken from the 1993 studio album Portrait Of An American Family. It deals with the murder of obstetrics and gynaecology doctor David Gunn, who was killed by self-proclaimed pro-life activist Michael Frederic Griffin. According to Manson the incident was one of the most profound instances of hypocrisy that he witnessed in his early life, specifically the idea that someone who identified as pro-life would take a life to prove that point. Get Your Gunn also contains audio from the press conference at which the American politician Budd Dwyer shot himself over a bribery conviction, including the gun shot that ultimately killed him.
