10 Songs You Need To Add To Your Halloween 2020 Playlist
1. Lullaby - The Cure
The Cure have been one of the most beautiful contradictions in the world of rock music. For as much Gothic aesthetics the band likes to flaunt from time to time, they have also found time to pump out some of the most infectious pop music known to man, from the synth tones on Just Like Heaven to the manic energy of Friday I'm In Love. The Cure could go down many sonic avenues, but it all comes back to the darkness in the end.
Appearing right in the middle of the band's masterpiece Disintegration, Lullaby" is almost the polar opposite of its title, as Robert Smith struggles to get to sleep for fear of being consumed by a monster. As he continues to wait on in dread, he finally accepts his fate, as a spider-like man ends up trapping him in a web and consuming him for dinner.
Beneath Smith's voice, the guitar and piano accompaniment slowly creep in, almost as if they are personifying the spider, as it creeps and crawls its way to you before devouring you whole. You may have loved him in the comics and on the big screen, but this is one of the most terrifying transformations of Spider-Man you will ever listen to.
