8. Supersonic Rocket Ship The Kinks
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thXmHW4-WC4 "Nobody's gonna travel second class. There'll be equality. And no suppression of minorities". If you take Yellow Submarine's surreal imagery and childish tone, and mix them up with Imagine's utopian worldviews, and you'd probably wind up with The Kinks' Supersonic Rocket Ship. Although not a great success at the time of the song's release, this title has become one of the band's more celebrated tunes. Its style is, in and of itself, out of this world, lying somewhere between bluegrass, Caribbean Calypso and jazz music, without compromising with one genre in particular. The steel drums really give the song that paradisiac tone that the lyrics are trying to convey. Everything is great in that spaceship of theirs!
