7. Kiss - 75 Million Albums Sold
Speaking of fans with rabid fan bases...number 7 on our list is the ever polarizing Kiss. One of the most influential bands in the history of rock and roll, Kiss has been able to sell their audience just about anything.
Pinball machines, ties, t-shirts, even caskets and condoms (as bassist Gene Simmons was famously quoted as saying, “Kiss will get you coming and going”) but the one thing they have never been able to sell is enough singles to claim a number one hit.
Though they have had two top ten hits in their tenure, 1976’s Beth is their highest chart topper at number 7. But who knows, although frontman Paul Stanley and the aforementioned Gene Simmons are the only original members of the Kiss lineup they are still touring the world and will probably have another album or two up their sleeve, so there’s still time for that elusive number 1.
