10 Terrible Albums By Legendary Music Bands

9. Vision of Love - Elton John

Any mention of the word disco to certain rock and roll fans is enough to make their blood boil. Even though the new flavors of dance music was pretty good for the time, hearing rock stars incorporating that sound into their style made for some pretty ugly clashes, like Rod Stewart's Do You Think I'm Sexy or the rock gods KISS selling out on I Was Made For Lovin You. When you have a guy who was already hitting a slump in his career though, you get one of the most lackluster cash grabs imaginable.

That's not to say that Elton John turned out something terrible in Vision of Love. From front to back, each of these songs have a decent groove going for them, and the disco beats sound alright. The problem with this record is the person in the middle of it, with Elton sounding burnt out and not really wanting to be in the studio half of the time. While the idea of him going disco may have been fine enough, this is where his several addictions were starting to effect his judgement, with a record that feels like it's aching to have airtime at Studio 54.

And as much as Elton may have tried to have some credibility by covering Chuck Berry on this, this version of Johnny B Goode is enough to send most rockers running away in fear. Disco didn't suck nearly as much as people said it did, but if this is all that the genre had to offer, we were right to have at least some concerns.
