The dumb goofiness of the track lends itself to defy any dissection that could be applied to the remainder of Dylan's discography. Highway 61 Revisited, often established as the peak of his creative abilities, contains sprawling songs that are still being analyzed to this day for their cryptic qualities discussing issues of the era or nothing particularly important at all. The problem with the title track is that its lack of importance is not built up by anything sonically interesting.
