10 Terrible Songs That Ruined Otherwise Flawless Albums

4. Talking Heads €“ Electric Guitar (Fear Of Music)

https://youtu.be/YnZR9EwyfvA This song is the same typical Talking Heads style of approaching objects and trends that have become natural in society and treating the object or trend in question as a source of intense emotion. David Byrne sings about his reverence for the electric guitar and sings about others treating it as a foreign object. The problem with the track is that everything aside from the lyrics are falling apart over its running time. Byrne sings with an absence of any passion as the rhythm section struggles to stay awake. It is a plain, boring song on an album about the plain and boring. Fear of Music works to be intentionally vague so basic concepts such as "Air" and "Heaven" are presented as alien. On "Electric Guitar," it is not done out of any aesthetic decision, but simple laziness.
