10 Things Only Megadeth Fans Will Understand
6. Trying To Keep Up With Their Line Up
Trying to stay on top of the Megadeth line up is like trying to count raindrops as they drop from the sky. At a certain point you've just gotta give up and let the rain fall.
Since Megadeth's formation in 1983, the band has had over a dozen members come and go. One of the most significant losses was Marty Friedman, a guitarist who was with the band for around a decade. During that time the band released five studio albums, and Friedman came to be well-loved by fans. Sadly, however, Friedman felt musically stifled by playing nothing but metal for so long. Another significant line up change came in 2014. In November of that year, Shawn Drover (drums) quit the band, again having been there for a decade. After Drover left, so too did Chris Broderick (guitars, backing vocals) leaving only Dave Mustaine and David Ellefson as the sole remaining members. Around this time rumours began circulating that the band was over, but Mustaine and Ellefson insisted they would continue writing music. In 2015 the Brazilian guitarist Kiko Loureiro joined the band as a third full-time member. As for what the line up will be next week, well...place your bets here.
