10 Things Only Megadeth Fans Will Understand
4. Knowing You'll Never Be As Good A Player As Mustaine, And He Had To Learn Twice
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dfvd4VrkrWgIt's something that many music fans have experienced, listening to their favourite rock and metal bands shred on guitar and wishing that one day they might be as talented or skilled.
I bet you still remember picking up your first guitar, loading up the tabs for your favourite songs (then quickly searching for something easier when you realise solos don't come to you on your first day). Even so, there was something immensely satisfying about playing The White Stripes' Seven Nation Army. It's a starting point, the first step into a brilliant world of impressing your family and friends. Of course, for most fans, it doesn't take long for the reality to sink in. You might be good you may even be great one day but you'll never be as good as Dave Mustaine. Think that sucks? Now appreciate the fact that Dave had to learn it all twice. That's right, after falling asleep on a chair in 2002 with his arm hanging over the back, the circulation to Mustaine's radial ulnar nerve was cut off and his arm was rendered largely useless. After over a year of physical therapy, Dave had to begin learning guitar all over again from scratch. Apparently some people are just born with it.
