10 Things We Know About The New Mumford & Sons Album

1. The Inspirations

Mumford were inspired by some of their own favourite bands during the creation of Wilder Mind, citing Led Zeppelin as one of them. "I think all our favorite bands have albums that are really urgent, but they have so much space in them. You listen to an Old Crow album, and there's not a huge amount of space there," explained Marcus Mumford to Rolling Stone. "But you listen to a Led Zeppelin album and suddenly you actually hear the space because it's more defined by less of the noise going on. All our favorite bands, from Dire Straits and Fleetwood Mac to Radiohead, all go about it in interesting ways." While the comparisons to Coldplay will no doubt come to the forefront over the coming weeks, it's important to remember that Mumford & Sons are undertaking a huge gamble, but one that could yield refreshing, inspiring results. Wilder Mind is most definitely a Mumford album, but certainly not as we know them. Are you excited for Wilder Mind? Share your thoughts below in the comments thread.
