3. The National Front Man

While he won't be playing alongside the boys anytime soon, The National's Aaron Dessner also helped inspire some new tracks with Marcus Mumford from his garage studios in New York City. "We met Aaron touring around, just on the circuit. We've been huge fans of The National for ages. All of us, individually have got a very personal attachment to their music," Mumford told NME. "'Come to my garage in Brooklyn and we'll make some music'. It was quite innocent really." And the band did just that. They say Dessner helped them give the album an "identity," something that is needed after the shift in style.
