10 Things You Didn't Know About Amanda Palmer

6. She Has The Most Amazing Bedroom

Palmer initially lived in a shared house in the outskirts of Boston after leaving her family home in Massachusetts to start her musical career. However, she was unhappy with this set-up and began entertaining the idea of starting her own collective of artists and performers. Realising that she had insufficient funds to buy and maintain her own building, she began to search for artists' groups nearby. She discovered the Cloud Club, a collective of artists and musician, shortly afterwards, and has lived there ever since. Among its other features, Palmer's apartment includes a chopped-down cedar tree that acts as a ladder to the attic bedroom. The room itself is dominated by half of a large glass dome which was installed by the building€™s owner Lee Barron. The structure is, technically, illegal as Barron never sought planning permission. A grand piano also takes up a large amount of the space in the bedroom. Alternatively, the bed takes up a large amount of space in the piano-room. It was during a Halloween party at the Cloud Club was also where Palmer met fellow musician Brian Viglione. A few weeks later, the pair would form Palmer's first band the Dresden Dolls.

With a (nearly) useless degree in English literature and a personal trainer qualification he's never used, Freddie spends his times writing things that he hopes will somehow pay the rent. He's also a former professional singer, and plays the saxophone and ukulele. He's not really used to talking about himself in the third person, and would like to stop now, thanks.
