10 Things You Didn't Know About Amanda Palmer

5. She Married Neil Gaiman Twice

Amanda Palmer agreed to marry Neil Gaiman in January 2010, announcing the engagement on Twitter. She joked at the time that she may have been too drunk to understand what she was agreeing to, although the couple confirmed the engagement a couple of weeks later on their respective websites.

On November 16, 2010, Amanda hosted a surprise, flash-mob style wedding in New Orleans for Gaiman's birthday. However, the ceremony wasn't legally binding and was likened to a children€™s game by Palmer. The pair were officially married the following January, exactly one year after Amanda accepted Neil's proposal. The private ceremony took place in the sitting room of their friends, and fellow writers, Ayelet Waldman and Michael Chabon.

The pair followed their second, official, marriage ceremony with a private wedding party in Scotland several months later. The party was attended by most of their extended family, many of whom were unable to make it to the actual wedding in America. Which might count as a third wedding in the space of a year.

With a (nearly) useless degree in English literature and a personal trainer qualification he's never used, Freddie spends his times writing things that he hopes will somehow pay the rent. He's also a former professional singer, and plays the saxophone and ukulele. He's not really used to talking about himself in the third person, and would like to stop now, thanks.
