10 Things You Didn't Know About Foo Fighters

2. There's A Song Dave Grohl Physically Can't Perform At Shows

If you've never had the opportunity to catch a Foo Fighters show, you should know that the group of forty-somethings are no slouches when it comes to putting on a high-energy, no holds barred, live performance. They may not play "perfectly" from a technical standpoint, but they display miles and miles of heart during each and every song. But because the band wants to put on the best possible show every time they venture out on stage, there's one song you're unlikely to hear performed in its entirety. "Monkey Wrench," from the band's breakthrough album, The Colour and the Shape, is simply too difficult for Dave to nail. The very long bridge, sung in a full-on scream with a rapid-fire delivery, can no longer be replicated by Grohl in a live setting. In fact, it took him five hours in the studio to get one usable take for the original recording. So sorry, "Monkey Wrench" fans, but if you're going to hear that song live, be prepared to take over when Dave points the mic out into the crowd for that part.
