10 Things You Didn't Know About Foo Fighters

1. They Refuse To Play "Anniversary Shows"

With a society that has a continually shrinking attention span, every band that makes it 10 years in the music industry without tapping out is considered legendary. And to celebrate how awesome and indomitable they are, that band will do one of two things: Go on tour to play concerts devoted entirely to their first record, or even more cash-grubbingly, re-record the album with new arrangements. (Looking at you and grimmacing, Everclear!) But not the Foos. In fact, Grohl despises bands who "revisit" their albums like this, dismissing them (correctly) as cheap cash-ins gussied up as fan service. That view, however, didn't stop a few members of the band from toying with the idea of re-recording the Foos eponymous debut album for its 20th anniversary. Grohl thought it would be nice to give it the proper band treatment, since it was originally recorded with the frontman playing every instrument, as he hadn't yet put together an actual band by that point. Luckily, cooler heads prevailed, with Taylor Hawkins reminding his brethren how that might be "The worst idea ever" and that fans "would f*cking hate it!"
