10 Things You Didn't Know About Foster The People

2. Foster's Job As A Jingle Writer

In 2008, Foster took on at job at Mophonics writing commercial jingle writer. He says it was here that he learned, from a commercial standpoint, what worked at getting the most attention. So, that's where he came up with all the catchy riffs in Foster the People's songs.

Foster credits the job as reviving his faith in writing music and performing, although he still had difficulty fitting all the different genres he wrote - like hip-hop, electronic and classic piano - into one specific sound. He said it took him six years to finish it.

Foster would also record a lot of the first album at Mophonics studio in L.A. Up until then, his most successful piece of music was a piece he wrote and provided for Muscle Milk advert, a protein drink in the US. But, once the band became famous, his compositions were sold to companies like Cadillac.

But, Foster does always say that 'without Mophonics, Foster the People wouldn't exist'.
