2. A Sticker Was Planned To Cover Baby's Penis

The album cover was first conceived by Cobain in the flat he shared with Grohl in Seattle after the two watched a documentary about water births. Cobain wanted something striking and memorable, and thought a baby floating in swimming pool would fit the bill. Of course it was considered highly controversial when the band pitched their idea to Geffen executives, who set about trying to convince Cobain to come up with another idea. The singer stuck to his guns though, and eventually Geffen agreed to use the idea but only if the band accepted that if the artwork was too shocking for the public, they had a back-up plan. The plan was to use a sticker to cover the baby€™s penis. However, Cobain wanted to make it clear that he would only compromise the use of the sticker if it read the following message: €œIf you€™re offended by this, you must be a closet pedophile.€ What makes this tidbit even more interesting is the story from photographer Krik Weddle€™s view point. During the cover's photo shoot, Weddle took photos of two babies: a baby boy and baby girl. Upon showing the set of photos to record executives, Weddle preferred the baby girl photos. Yet, people from Geffen were overheard gesturing that they €œwant a d*ck.€ For goodness sake, make your minds up!
