6. Almost Split Up Over Royalties
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qv96yJYhk3M After the explosion of Nevermind firmly set in and the band proceeded to knock the king of pop Michael Jackson off his perch atop the Billboard 100, Nirvana became a band very much in demand. In the linear notes, Cobain is listed as song writer and lyricist, with the band as a whole noted down as providing the music. With radio-friendly unit shifter Smells Like Teen Spirit receiving a whole bunch air time on national radio, the price of royalties for their material rose considerably. Consequently it drove a negligible chink amongst the band members when Cobain put his case across that he should receive a bigger slice of his already large royalty pie. As you can imagine, Novoselic and Grohl werent best pleased with his demands and threatened to quit the band if the issue wasnt resolved. We obviously know the band came to an agreement and settled their differences of opinion, but if things hadnt of been sorted, we may of have another one album wonder, a la Sex Pistols, on our hands.

Martin Scorsese fanboy; Can prove in 140-characters why Michael Bay is a hack, and I enjoy a bit of Gridiron at the weekends.
