10 Things You Didn't Know About The Beatles

2. Paul McCartney Saved Lennon And Yoko Ono's Relationship

Strap in for this one, it reads like a script for Keeping Up with the Kardashians...

After accusations that Yoko Ono broke up The Beatles, it seems bizarre that Paul McCartney had a hand in saving Lennon and Ono's relationship. During the '70's, the power couple were on the rocks. In a bizarre take on marriage therapy, Ono encouraged Lennon to embark on a relationship with the pair's personal assistant, May Pang.

Lennon would retrospectively refer to the 18-month relationship as the 'Lost Weekend'. During this time the Instant Karma singer began abusing alcohol and became somewhat unhinged. Although this period saw him reunite with his son Julien and resulted in some of Lennon's most celebrated solo work, those close to him became concerned at his behaviour. One brandy-fuelled incident involved Lennon getting into a fight with a waitress while wearing a tampon on his head.

According to McCartney, he spoke to Ono, who was also concerned but didn't want to push the matter herself. Paul subsequently had a conversation with his former bandmate and encouraged him to get back with his estranged wife. Soon after, Lennon and Ono got back together. Despite this, Lennon continued seeing Pang with Ono's consent.

Rock stars, eh...
