10 Things You Didn't Know About The Beatles

1. Without George Harrison There Would Be No Life Of Brian

Monty Python was to comedy what The Beatles were to music. Both were doing things that were unheard of in their respective fields; both caused a huge degree of controversy with their art; and both inspired a crazed devotion from their fans.

After the success of their initial movie, the Pythons were keen to keep the momentum going, but the concept for their follow-up film caused their various funding bodies to have some concerns. Referencing the words of the Bible or the life of Jesus Christ in a humourous way was akin to cannibalism in those days. After a long period of pre-production, the Pythons were ready to shoot, but they soon got wind that they wouldn't receive the money they required due to reservations about the material.

By this time, George Harrison was close friends with the musical Python, Eric Idle, and offered to fund the movie for no other reason then he wanted to see it. Harrison even got a cameo in the film and can be spotted in the crowd that assembles at Brian's house when he is named the true messiah.

Thank God for George Harrison.
