9. Tattooing John Bonham's Led Zeppelin Logo On His Own Arm
Rock 'n' roll and tattoos go hand in hand with each other (sometimes literally in the hands, too). Even after years of permanent skin art, tattoos are still as popular as they ever have been, and the only thing more rock than getting one is by doing one yourself. Okay, so maybe it sounds a little too risky, that didn't stop a young Dave Grohl from inking himself with Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham's legendary three-circle symbol, straight from the 'Led Zeppelin IV' front cover. He told Rolling Stone Magazine, "I did the first one myself when I was 16," he says. "I tried to get different colored ink to make it seem pro, but now it looks like someone put a cigarette out on my f**king arm." Grohl has gone on to acquire another two Zep tattoos, one of which was done by an Italian in an illegal Amsterdam squat, using a gun made out of a doorbell machine. Clearly the man has been endearingly in love with the band from the get go, and his repeated homages to Bonham and co. - both in interviews and his musicianship - have helped him become a real musician's musician; a rockstar that still is completely in awe of other musicians. All his dreams must've come true when he duetted with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones at Wembley Stadium in 2008.
