10 Times Dave Grohl Was An Absolute Legend

8. Rescuing A Trapped Kid At A Them Crooked Vultures Concert

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aotFnaxBuPs The headline and above video speak for themselves, but for a bit of context: Them Crooked Vultures (the supergroup containing Dave Grohl, Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme, and Led Zep bassist John Paul Jones) were playing at the legendary Blackpool Empress Ballroom in 2009. The band had just rattled through the brilliant album track 'Dead End Friends', when Grohl spotted a kid down the front, trapped in amongst the rest of the gig-goers. Concerned over crowd-crushing and any injuries the young boy could possibly sustained, Grohl left his drumkit and made his way to the front of the stage, beckoned security, and helped the kid, named Ethan, and his Father. The result? Ethan and his Dad got to spend the rest of the night watching the gig from the side of the stage, right next to John Paul Jones. Having played live in bands like Nirvana, Foo Fighters, QOTSA, Tenacious D, as well as Them Crooked Vultures, Dave Grohl is probably used to seeing his fair share of moshpits and pogoing crowds. He even wrote 'Enough Space' to suit the tempo in which he found European crowds would jump up and down during the band's early tours. But given his reaction to this (fairly small) sized audience, and in particular, the young boy situated at the front, it's likely that he was actually greatly concerned for his safety, and wanted to act upon it before it was too late. Not content with just being a rockstar, Dave Grohl ended up being a security guard for one night in 2009.
