Ronin Ro was a well known rap journalist in the '90s, famous for his work with The Source magazine, and later went on to publish his own book, Have Gun Will Travel: The Spectacular Rise and Violent Fall of Death Row Records. His book details a lot of the violent ongoings that were a regular occurrence for Death Row employees, and the line wasn't drawn at simply roughing up the opposition.

Happy Walters managed a lot of top-tier talent back in the day, notably RZA of Wu-Tang clan fame, and Cypress Hill to name just a couple. Knight, always looking to expand his empire, may have viewed Walters as competition that needed to be dealt with.

After refusing to release the artists under him, Walters was abducted while at an ATM in LA, and found two days later in a Long Beach hotel. He was reportedly found covered in cigarette burns, dazed and beaten. Walters never did file a police report regarding the incident, and claimed that he suffered from amnesia meaning he couldn't remember any details about the abduction.

Ro claims that Knight was behind the attack though it was never proven. The outcome however, benefitted Knight nonetheless with Walters conveniently dropping the majority of his talent not long after.
