10 Times Suge Knight Lived Up To His Reputation
8. His Short Fuse
It was common knowledge for all Death Row Records employees that Suge Knight had a bit of a mean streak, and wasn't afraid of showing everyone who was in charge.
In 1992 at a Hollywood recording studio, brothers and aspiring rappers George and Lynwood Stanley were hoping to impress Knight and had dreams of becoming the West Coast's newest sensations. They managed to catch Knight's eye, but for all the wrong reasons.
The brothers made the mistake of using the studio telephone without first asking permission from Suge, who did not take such disrespect lightly. Legal documents obtained by the Los Angeles Times indicate that Knight ordered the pair to strip naked while holding them at gunpoint, and proceeded to beat and pistol whip them, firing shots off in their direction, in a similar fashion to Joe Pesci in Goodfellas.
The incident was a violation of Knight's probation and landed him back in court, but the prosecutor in the case, Larry Longo, had ties to Death Row through his daughter who had a record deal with the label. Pressure from Longo caused the brothers to accept a settlement in a civil suit, keeping the heat off Knight in the process and helping him dodge jail time.
