10 Underrated Albums By Legendary Bands

7. Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants - Oasis

At the end of the '90s, most fans were ready to close the book on Oasis. With the band's last release Be Here Now being one of the most overblown records of the decade, their hiatus along with the release of the B-sides album the Masterplan made everyone think our favorite Mancunians were finished. Once the Gallagher Brothers reassembled though, their glorious return was a lot better than you probably remember.

In hindsight, people tend to look at Standing on the Shoulder of Giants as the band's vain attempt to capture their Beatles-like sound, but the bright spots on here are among some of their best. Tracks like "Go Let It Out" show them doing their retro throwback style beautifully, while songs like "Gas Panic!" hint at something much more disturbed. This record also boasts some of the greatest Noel-fronted songs, with "Where Did It All Go Wrong?" being an emotional experience as Gallagher combs back through the band's downfall.

The album isn't exactly the sonic fireworks show that Definitely Maybe was, but even at its worst, it's still a good helping of psychedelic rock to play whenever you need to relax. They might not have been the biggest band in the world at the time, but these tunes are still pretty damn good.
