10 Underrated Albums By Legendary Bands

3. One By One - Foo Fighters

The Foo Fighters were not really in their best spot at the beginning of the 2000s. After just acquiring new guitarist Chris Shiflett, Dave Grohl's decision to join Queens of the Stone Age left some animosity brewing among the rest of the band. The tension and near-dissolution of the band during this time is so well-documented that some people may remember the infighting more than the actual music on this record.

While fans flock to the hits like "Times Like These" and "All My Life", One by One tends to get looked at as the placeholder album as the band recovered their raw nerves. In actuality, this album contains some of the darkest sounding songs that the band had ever written, like the nasty guitar riff on "Low" and the off-kilter intro of "Disenchanted Lullaby". Regular Foos fans should not get discouraged though, with songs like "Overdrive" being a return to the band's more straightforward rock punch.

The album also features a mammoth closer in "Come Back", whose acoustic breakdown hinted at the more experimental directions the band would take going forward. This might not have been the best time to be in the Foo Fighters, but the music hasn't lost an ounce of kickass.
