10 Underrated Albums By Legendary Rock Music Bands

7. Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants - Oasis

Everything revolving around Oasis in the ‘90s seemed to be feeding off momentum. The Gallagher Brothers' rise to the top was one of the biggest musical movements in England at the time, never really stopping until Be Here Now flamed out in spectacular fashion, with songs that stretched way beyond the necessary length half the time. When the band eventually regrouped in the ‘00s though, they still managed to put their best foot forward most of the time.

Granted, it’s not like Standing on the Shoulder of Giants is the gigantic follow up that most of us were hoping for. In fact, this might be one of the darkest Oasis albums ever committed to tape, as Noel struggles with coming off of drugs and being prone to anxiety attacks on songs like Gas Panic!. Although there are some demons the band are wrestling with, their knack for cribbing from the ‘60s hasn’t dulled over the years either, with Go Let It Out and Who Feels Love being some of the closest they’ve come to actually making something that sounds like the psychedelic period of the Beatles.

It’s hard not to mention that time away though, and some of these songs feel like they’re meant to be a reaction to the band’s legendary fall from grace, like Noel singing about everything crumbling down on Where Did It All Go Wrong and eventually bringing in some of that bombast from the early days on the album closer Roll It Over. This is definitely not the first album for potential Oasis fans to try on by any stretch, but it might be the closest that we got to seeing who the real Noel Gallagher is underneath all of that arrogant posturing.
