10 Underrated Hard Rock Albums Of The 1990s
6. Balls To Picasso - Bruce Dickinson
Bruce Dickinson is mainly known as the lead vocalist for Iron Maiden, but he also had an interesting solo career on his departure from the band in the mid 90s, releasing a substantial amount of his own material.
Balls To Picasso was his second solo outing - his first after leaving Maiden - and it features some great tracks. Stylistically different to anything the singer had done previously, the album takes on more of a traditional rock sound with some songs slightly softer than what Dickinson is known for. It's also a personal effort, with the vocalist dedicating one of the songs, 'Laughing In The Hiding Bush', to his son Austin.
'Shoot All The Clowns' features Dickinson at his funnest, clearly experimenting with his vocals, and 'Tears Of The Dragon' is a great ballad, exploring his final days in Maiden.
