10 Underrated Hard Rock Songs Of The 2000s
7. Myxomatosis - Radiohead
By the time they reached the '00s, Radiohead had done what few bands are able to get away with. After reinventing the entire concept of rock on OK Computer, they managed to top themselves with one of the most drastic sonic left turns in music history on Kid A. In the afterglow though, it was time for them to get acquainted with just making some kickass rock music again.
With the release of Hail to the Thief, these English braniacs managed to make the most varied assortment of songs in their catalog with songs like There There and Go To Sleep. However, the actual interesting part starts to creep in on Myxomatosis, as Jonny Greenwood straps on his guitar for one of the most punishing riffs he had ever committed to tape. Though you can definitely tell this is a Radiohead cut, this stray guitar feels like it could have turned up on a harder leaning affair like Queens of the Stone Age.
The real power though comes with Colin Greenwood's bass playing, which matches his brother' dirty tone note for note, almost like it's slithering like a snake around Thom Yorke's melody. For a band that had left the more primitive side of rock in the rearview, Myxomatosis is one hell of a track that still manages to bring the heat all these years later.
