10 Underrated Hard Rock Songs Of The '90s

8. Go - Pearl Jam

In the grand scheme of grunge rock bands, Pearl Jam was always known as the most straightforward of the entire bunch. While they may not have had the star power or the songs to compete with Nirvana, the band had more than their fair share of great riffs that seemed to be plucked from rock's glory years. Once we heard the followup to Ten though, the band had gotten real angry real fast.

Centered around a detuned riff, "Go" opens the band's sophomore effort Vs. incredibly strong, almost as if the band had gone through some sort of musical metamorphosis. Rather than being the tried and true band behind songs like "Alive," this song was much more in line with punk rock, with a breakneck tempo and one of the fiercest guitar solos that Mike McCready would ever play.

Though the band have joked that the song was centered around Eddie Vedder's truck about to stall, never before has the apprehensive nature of engine failure felt this intense. After the band had soared to the top of the rock world with their debut, this was a great way to throw audiences a curveball by letting all of the heaviness out at the very beginning.
