10 Unusual Music Collaborations That Should've Never Worked

8. Young Thug & Elton John - High

Young Thug is a maverick in hip-hop. There is nobody quite like him at all. From his fashion sense to his extremely experimental vocal melodies, he has been trailblazing at the top of the genre for years now.

Even for someone has unorthodox as Young Thug, seeing him side by side with Elton John os still utterly surreal. On the surface they couldn’t be further apart, but look deeper and you can see why the collaboration makes sense. Both artists have been viewed as flamboyant, and at points in their career criticised for that attribute.

Young Thug was bold enough to reimagine one of Elton John’s most beloved songs of all time. Rocketman. Instead of the soothing, sombre soft rock classic it now also exists as a woozy psychedelic trap song. Nobody saw this coming.

Whether you're a fan of the song or not, you have to admire the sheer audiacity for someone like Young Thug to even attempt such a thing.

The praise he received from Elton himself was probably all the validation Young Thug needed.
