10. The Veldt - Deadmau5
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_esYONwdKuw Instantly conjuring up images of the Savannah plains, there's nothing at all with 'The Veldt' to remind you that winter is here. The track is one of Deadmau5's more formulaic offerings but this is in no way a bad thing as the soothing lyrics provided by Chris James carry you through over a catchy rhythm and driving beat. The song is a reference to a short story of the same name by Ray Bradbury and features multiple references to the narrative. Fans of the video game Limbo will also see that the music video has drawn inspiration from the art style. The song certainly has a summery feel and it could be argued that it sounds too summery to be enjoyed this late in the year. Not so, it fits the purpose of this proposed playlist perfectly perking you up after a day out in the cold. It has more of a pop vibe than Deadmau5's other material which I think shows his skill at producing a range of music, it sounds great and at a generous run time of 8 plus minutes on the full edit, leaves you plenty of time to snuggle up and enjoy.
