7. Get A Move On - Mr Scruff
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HamLxGxeDqI Sampling some old jazz classics and turning them into a great dance track is no mean feat, but it is something that Mr. Scruff (Andy Carthy) has achieved in his track 'Get A Move On'. Combining the music from Moondog's 'Bird's Lament' and vocals from T-Bone Walker's 'Hypin Woman Blues' with a solid beat there's very little not to like about this song. While the use of brass is making more of a comeback in dance music (to varied success), this song from 1999 proves that the two can work together when it's done properly. Mr. Scruff's music is usually quite surreal as anyone who has heard the track 'Fish' can testify but that's another story and 'Get A Move On' shows his credibility as a serious DJ. The album 'Keep It Unreal' is a good example of music to either dance or recline to, it straddles the line between chillout and dance and gives you the opportunity to do what's most comfortable. This is another track where it's beneficial to watch the video at least once as it showcases Mr Scruff's trademark bizarre drawings along with the awesome music.
