10 Worst Album Covers In Rock

9. Killing is My Business - Megadeth

On paper, making an album cover fit in with the music shouldn't be the hardest thing in the world. At the very minimum, most artists just have to sit with the music and make some sort of graphic that would be able to suit the material within the grooves. When you're just starting out though, a lot of stuff can be lost in translation.

Coming out of the Bay Area, Killing is My Business by Megadeth is a juggernaut of a thrash record, with Dave Mustaine proving that Metallica made a big mistake by kicking him to the curb a few years prior. This also includes the first appearance of the trademark mascot Vic Rattlehead...sort of. Instead of the robot like droid that we would familiarize ourselves with on Rust in Peace, this cover was thrown together after the initial budget presumably ran out for the album art.

Sticking to the original theme of a menacing skull, most of the mechanics of this thing look like they were thrown together for some middle school art project, complete with what looks like ketchup for blood and paper mache holding the rest of this mascot together. Even though it's not out of the question to have some trademark mascot, this iteration of Vic clearly had to go back to the drawing board more than a few times.
