10 Worst Band Breakups Of All Time

3. The Beatles

Every one of the Beatles' songs feels like a pure expression of joy.

No matter what kind of day you're having, you can count on more than a few tracks by the Fab Four to pick you up. Given all the happiness they've brought to the world, it's sort of a shame that the band disbanded on bad terms.

The demise of the band started in the mid-'60s, after their manager Brian Epstein died of an overdose in his home. Opting to manage themselves, the band opened up their own record label Apple and continued to make some of their best material on tracks like "Hey Jude" and "Let It Be." The idea looked alright on paper, but expanding the label into a boutique ended up draining the band of their royalties.

As each member starting moving on to other genres, the inclusion of John Lennon's wife Yoko Ono ended up being an intrusion to the band's work process. After a disastrous attempt to reconnect during the sessions for Let It Be, the band decided to call it a day after the release of Abbey Road.

Each member eventually settled their differences in the mid-'70s, but in just a few short months, the band that had defined the dream of the '60s had been laid to rest.
