10 Worst Burnouts In Rock History

8. John Lennon

There was pretty much no way that the Beatles' breakup wasn't going to come with its fair share of drama. Given their reputation as one of the founders of the British Invasion, the dissolution of the Fab Four was going to weight heavy on John, Paul, George, and Ringo for the rest of their lives. Though Lennon managed to make it to the other side with the help of Yoko Ono, it wasn't the sunniest of times from day to day.

On the surface, Lennon actually had a pretty stellar start to his solo career, only to have it change drastically once he relocated to New York. Being scrutinized and stalked by the U.S. government for his political views, the fallout for Lennon came in what he once described as his "lost weekend." While he was under contract to complete a covers album with Rock n Roll, Lennon separated from Yoko and went to Los Angeles, where he started to live the most excessive lifestyle he could.

Though Lennon's legendary exploits around this time earned him a spot among the famous Hollywood Vampires, he would eventually call this one of the darkest times of his life, wanting to be reunited with Ono back in New York. Once everything was settled, Lennon's return to the Big Apple led to him settling into domestic life, taking time to raise his son and make one more album before his murder in 1980. For as little time that he had left on this earth, it's comforting knowing that the eccentric Beatle had finally found peace.
