10 Worst Final Albums In Rock
3. Goodbye - Cream
Even at the best of times, Cream were always one of the more volatile bands to come out of the psych-rock scene. Though these guys had the technical chops of a supergroup, the amount of animosity built up between Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, and Ginger Baker was not some big secret amongst rock fans either. Though these guys could have easily gotten by writing another handful of albums, Goodbye just feels like a pathetic way to get out of their record contract.
With Clapton quickly becoming the rising star of the group, Goodbye is the final bow of the band's career before finally calling it a day. Though there isn't too much wrong with the actual songs on here, it just stings knowing what could have been. Compared to other bands that try to go out with a bang, a bunch of these songs are just blues covers from their live set along with a handful of singles thrown in for good measure.
While it's awesome to have a single like Badge on an album, it just feels cheap considering that we could have gotten another great tune in its place instead. Though we eventually got to see Slowhand's potential bloom in his solo career, one could only wonder why one of the world's finest supergroups chose this note to go out on.
