10 Worst Hard Rock Lyrics Of All Time
8. Great Expectations - KISS
Most rock stars can't really go wrong with writing a song about sex. Since the old adage comes down to the idea of sex, drugs, and rock and roll, a song that is nothing more than a plea for some carnal knowledge is a safe enough bet in the world of rock. When you make the entire song an extended pickup line though, you can fall into cornball territory pretty fast.
Aside from some of their more celebrated work, KISS' Gene Simmons has written plenty of songs with wretched lyrics, and yet none of them have felt more out of place than on Great Expectations. Given the full orchestral treatment, this song is one of the most sleazy things the Demon has been a part of, and not in a good way. From one verse to the next, the entire track is about how much Gene wants to have sex with you, which becomes all the more creepy when the children's choir starts to sing.
This might have worked with some other artist, but the fact that it is the guy known for breathing fire and spitting blood just pulls you out of the sexy vibe so hard. As much as you might think your lyrics work in the right setting, this is proof enough that the you need to at least understand the tone of the song first.
