10 Worst Hard Rock Lyrics Of All Time

6. Dirty Window - Metallica

So much has been said regarding Metallica's St. Anger that it really feels like we're beating a dead horse at this point. From the looks of it in Some Kind of Monster, the thrash titans were really not in a good spot when constructing this album, leading to haphazard production and some of the most ear grading drum performances ever pressed to a metal album. Is no one going to acknowledge the nose dive that happened in the lyrical department though?

Given that most of the past Metallica records featured James Hetfield at the helm, the style behind these lyrics was a more democratic process, with each member contributing individual lines to create a whole song. When you break it down though, the entire process feels a lot more artificial, especially when you get to Dirty Window. While the song starts off fairly straightforward talking about an unclean window, the breakdown just pulls you out of the entire experience.

In what can only be described as random word association, Hetfield just spews out random words that don't create any clear message other than "these guys are having some trouble." Instead of finding a way to remedy it though, Hetfield doubles down on the word association before continuing on like nothing happened. Forget the actual documentary, this lyric sheet is the one that should have really been called Some Kind of Monster.
