10 Worst Hard Rock Lyrics Of The ‘80s

8. One In A Million - Guns N Roses

Guns N Roses was the real rock and roll band we deserved at the end of the ‘80s. After years of hair bands that were way too pretentious for their own good, these street punks were the real deal who sang about life in the dangerous city of LA. Then again, it’s not like everything was completely heartfelt every time.

When assembling tracks for their acoustic EP GNR Lies, Axl Rose insisted on having a solo spot on the record for his track “One in a Million.” Though the track seems to be on the right foot to start off, things get so much harder to defend once Axl opens his mouth. Instead of being another diary entry from our favorite street urchin, this song is filled to the brim with homophobic sentiments, racial slurs, and empty threats at law enforcement.

Some of the language ended up being so offensive that Slash refused to even perform on the track, with most of the song being dominated by Rose. When asked about the lyrics after the fact, Rose claimed that he didn’t mean to offend people of color but was instead referring to “low-lifes” when he wrote the lyric. Guns N Roses already have their legacy firmly secure, but this song is best kept in the ‘80s and never brought out again.
