10 Worst Number One Rock Albums Of The 1990s
1. Razorblade Suitcase - Bush
Bush are one of those rare cases of an English band being more popular in the United States than at home.
Some would say this is because the English have a more refined taste than their transatlantic cousins... that's it, that's the whole sentence.
Their only number one album anywhere in the world was Razorblade Suitcase, which was America's favourite for two weeks in 1996. Wait a minute, it was also number one in Canada! Oh, Canada, you should know better than this.
Razorblade Suitcase offered little in the way of deep content or radio-friendly rock hits. It sounded totally washed out and devoid of any character, like a Nirvana tribute act had someone gotten a record contract.
Even without a hint of originality, this album remains Bush's strongest commercial performer, both at home and abroad. Clearly nobody was reading any music press at the time, otherwise they'd have been put off then and there.
One infamous review gave this album one out of 10 for "spelling their name right", which is harsh, but hilarious.
At least Bush can rest easy knowing that they are number one in this list, and comfortable so.
