10 Worst Performances In Rock Music History
9. Queens of the Stone Age at Rock Am Ring
You ever have one of those off days at your dayjob? You know the kind where no matter what you try to do, everything seems to turn out sideways in one form or another? Yeah, just because you're in a famous rock band doesn't exclude you from that company, just ask Josh Homme during the Rated R tour.
That's not to say that any members of Queens of the Stone Age were too wasted to play or anything. These guys were already a well oiled rock machine when they hit the stage at Rock Am Ring. The only problem was that absolutely no one else could get it together on the stage. Whether it was a lack of communication on the part of the band or what, everything that could go wrong did go wrong here, with Josh calling attention to the smoke machine that kept blowing while the band was trying to get through the song.
Oh, but that's only a fraction of what happened here, with some of the band's gear going haywire and eventually turning over vocal duties to Mark Lanegan with a microphone that wasn't even set up properly, leaving the audience to listen to a bunch of guitar riffs with no melody. The shoddy performance wasn't lost on the band either, who eventually all got tattoos of this date to commemorate the event and vowing never to let it happen again.
