10 Worst Sellout Rock Albums Of All Time

7. Danger Days - My Chemical Romance

Not many bands can say that they stopped at the top of their game. Though many acts claim to go out with a bang, most of their new material tends to erode before they call it a day. My Chemical Romance may have been able to leave a strong legacy, but their final artistic offering seems far too out of place.

Granted, it wasn't going to be easy to follow up The Black Parade, whose artistic impact is still being felt on rock bands to this day, but Danger Days at least had a good proof of concept. Going down a conceptual direction once again, the next offering from these kings of emo was going to be a Mad Max style odyssey set in the not too distant future. However, writing a good idea and following through with it are two totally different things.

Originally inspired by the comic book that Gerard Way was working on around the same time, a lot of these songs sound like they are better suited to read rather than listen to. Even when scaling things back for more subdued material, a lot of the good songs on this record feel like the band playing catch up with the electronic rock that had started dominating the music world in the early 2010s. Danger Days is certainly not a bad record, but whenever you listen, you can practically hear the creative ingenuity starting to fly off the rails.
