10 Worst Sellout Rock Albums Of All Time
5. Significant Other - Limp Bizkit
With over two decades of hindsight, can we all agree that Limp Bizkit becoming famous was a horrible mistake? For all of the doofy frat boy anthems that they put on the rock charts in the late '90s and early '00s, the amount of crap that these guys were able to bring to the mainstream ended up doing more harm than good. Even with all the just hate the band receives, it stings all that much more when they actually had some potential. Yes... really.
All across the band's independent release Three Dollar Bill Y'all, there was some promise behind their appeal, with Fred Durst taking on the persona of a crusty punk kid who could end up hurting you if you're not careful. It seemed like a decent move in the age of nu metal, but Significant Other was the moment every single thing went wrong.
As songs like Break Stuff and Nookie graced the airwaves, every ounce of charisma this band had was replaced with open threats and rhymes that sounded like Durst was a school bully who never really grew up after high school. The music itself may hold up a little bit, but all it takes is one bad decision to bring down the entire creative process.
