10 Worst Sellout Rock Albums Of All Time
2. Dirty Work - The Rolling Stones
The Rolling Stones have been around since the birth of rock and roll. Right alongside legendary acts like Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley, The Stones' trek since being one of the biggest bands of the British Invasion have put them into legendary status for years now. They don't really have anything to prove, but that doesn't mean you stop caring about the songs.
While the band's first foray into disco territory on Some Girls had some mixed results, the youthful spirit on Dirty Work looks so much more creepy in retrospect. From one song to the next, the Stones just sound hollow, with Mick Jagger trying his best to put some type of charisma into these neon-colored nightmares. With half of the album being composed of Ronnie Wood's material, the amount of experimentation makes it sound like the songwriting team of Jagger and Keith Richards is too burnt out by now.
It's not like the band had to necessarily go down this road either, with Start Me Up launching them into the '80s pretty well. As long as they stuck to their guns, the band could have made another great record, but Dirty Work just sounds like some of the richest musicians in the world wanting a tax write off.
