10 Worst Songs To Ever Reach Number 1 In The UK

9. Bob The Builder - Can We Fix It? (2000)

Before he received a CGI makeover to instill nightmares within the younger population, Bob the Builder's reassuring stop-motion tones and handyman skills were enough to launch an unlikely pop career.

Backed by Scoop, Muck and Dizzy - and Roley too, while Lofty and Wendy also joined his so-solid crew - he went platinum with this extended version of his theme song at the turn of the millennium, which in turn became the best-selling single of the year.

Remarkably, this wasn't Bob's only chart-topping hit - the notorious bricklayer was back at number one less than a year later with his cover version of Lou Bega's Mambo No. 5, the video for which has to be seen to be believed.

He would also, almost a decade later, hit number one again, albeit this time for a good cause as a member of Peter Kay's Animated All Star Band, alongside such fellow luminaries as Postman Pat, Fireman Sam and Thomas the Tank Engine on a Children in Need single.

Something of a culture vulture, Mr Steel can historically be found in three places; the local cinema, the local stadium or the local chip shop. He is an avowed fan of franchise films, amateur cricket and power-chords.
