12 Best Cult Hard Rock Albums Of The 90s

7. Euphoria - Def Leppard

At the beginning of the 90's, the magic word on the lips of every rock fan was alternative. Any rock band that had a chance of getting on the charts had to possess some sort of authentic presentation or some ironic twist on the rock star formula. The fact was...Def Leppard were not the ideal favorite band for any rock fan at the time.

Though the band did try to dabble in the more alternative scene with the album Slang, the end results seemed a bit confusing for many diehard fans to grasp. However, the band found that their more forceful pop rock would fit right in once grunge faded and more upbeat tracks were back in style.

In an inspired move, the band decided to strip everything back to basics with their new record, even down to having a title ending in -ia. Euphoria was a huge comeback for the band at the time, with "Promises" gaining some airplay and that trademark Def Leppard polish in full force once again. Even if you were still a staunch alternative defender at the time, the hooks present on this record were too good to pass up. By staying true to themselves, Def Leppard came through with a record that acknowledged their roots while still finding common ground with the mainstream.
