12 Best Screamo Metal Bands Of All Time

10. The Ghost Inside

There isn't another band on the planet with a more inspirational story than The Ghost Inside. Formed in 2004, the group's accessable brand of hardcore has ensured a wide fanbase. Vocalist Jonathan Virgil provides a positive attitude to pair with the aggressive music style, with his inspiring lyrics. The main theme throughout their four albums is overcoming adversity and facing challenges head on. This is sadly an attitude that would be tested to its very limits.

Following the release of the second album, 'Returners' the band underwent a line up change, introducing ex-For The Fallen Dreams drummer and songwriter, Andrew Tkaczyk. It was at this stage the band started working with A Day To Remember vocalist, Jeremy McKinnon. Teaming up for the next two albums, the singer helped the group solidify their sound and introduce a more melodic side.

During the promotional tour of 'Dear Youth', the group were involved in a horrific traffic collision, which sadly took the lives of their bus driver and the driver of the other vehicle involved. The news sent shockwaves across the scene, with no confirmed information on the band's wellbeing reaching people for days after. Virgil, Tkaczyk and guitarist Zach Johnson were all left in a critical condition. Thankfully everyone managed to recover well, but Tkaczyk sadly had to have his leg amputated above the knee.

Naturally, the group went on hiatus as the long recovery process went on. Both the fans and the band wanted to return to the stage as quickly as possible, but it was never certain they could achieve that goal. Incredibly, despite the drummer's amputation and permanent physical damage to other members, the group have went on to play multiple concerts across the world in the past year.
